Melancholic Melodies

Image
Melancholic Melodies We used to dance for hours, Under the twinkling stars, On the wild meadows, Just you and me. My hands in yours, Our steps were in sync, Just like our heartbeats, Always beating as one. A rendezvous every night, When the sun disappeared, I’d wish for it to never return, So that I could dance with you forever.  That full moon night In the midst of summer, I waited awhile, And then searched for you. Worried was I, What had happened to my love? I ran across the meadows, And then I found you. You were dancing with another, Laughing and smiling, As I just stood there, My world swirling down. Were all those promises Nothing but a lie? How had I failed to see  Beyond those charming eyes? Alas! My wish had come true, But in the cruelest of ways, I was now all alone,  In a world without light. ***

Into the Woods

Image
Into the Woods A stroll through the misty woods, In the early hours of the morning, When the first rays of sunshine Have just touched the earth, And the birds sing softly To wake up their young ones; The cool drops of dew On the grass beneath, The gentle breeze, And the rustling leaves, Fill me with a tranquil spirit, Preparing me for a new day.  ***

Penning a Poem

Image
Penning a Poem My mind is a haven For a multitude of emotions, It consists of a plethora Of confused feelings, All tangled together. Taking out my pen, And a blank sheet of paper, Unravels this intricate web. Each word reflects  A raw emotion, Each line declutters  A tangled thought, Poetry is a form of respite  From a complex reality.

A Fresh Start

Image
A Fresh Start My eyes flutter open,  As the first rays of sunshine  Sneak in through the curtains. I rub my half-sleepy eyes, Push back my tangled hair, And stumble out of my bedroom. I boil a little milk, Add a little decoction, And make myself a cup of coffee. As I step onto my balcony, The morning breeze welcomes me, With the scent of hope and arrival. The dew drops on the jasmine leaves, Look so fresh and full of energy, And revive my dormant spirits. The morning air removes the remnants Of the previous night from my mind, And prepares me for a brand new start. ***

Eternity in an Hour

Image
Eternity in an Hour   The cool drops that fall from the heavens above, The gentle breeze that blows the hair across my face, The tall palm trees that dance slowly Against a soft, grey setting, Make time come to a standstill. The golden daffodils spread  Across the green meadows, Which hearten my spirits, With their vibrant hues, Make me forget that time exists. As I weave my fingers With the smooth grains of sand, That lie sparkling under  The warm evening sky, I feel unbothered by the presence of time. I can not hold back The beautiful words that fill my mind, As I look around at the beautiful gifts The earth has given us. Verses gush out from my pen onto paper, I can sit here forever, and write till time stops- Writing poetry creates eternity in an hour. ***
