Winter Woes

 Winter Woes

It is the season of studying,

While everyone else can curl up in their homes,

Sleep soundly ‘neath comfy covers,

I must memorise fearful formulae,

Learn lessons, draw diagrams,

My head hurts, haven’t slept since last month,

It’s a dark December, lacking light.

Poetry Style: Alliterisen

  • A 7-line poem
  • Each line has two pairs of alliterations
  • The rhyme scheme is:
              X
              X + 2
              X - 1
             (X + 2) - 1
              X - 2
             (X + 2) - 2
              X
  • (Where X is the number of syllables chosen by the poet; I’ve chosen X to be 9 in this poem).
